The Atlanta Filipino Student Association is a non-profit cultural organization located in the heart of downtown Atlanta. Our mission is to unify and empower a diverse community of students through an active appreciation and promotion of the Filipino culture and its values.
One of the most significant ways in which we cater to our mission is through our participation in Def Talent Jam, a collegiate dance competition hosted by the Filipino Student Association of the University of Florida. For over ten years, ATL FSA has traveled to Gainesville as the only out-of-state competitor, and has consistently placed in the Top 3 since our involvement.
This year, the Filipino Student Association at Kennesaw State University is inheriting DTJ from ATLFSA in order for the dance team to continue to partake in the competition. KSUFSA was established in 2016 with the goal of promoting a positive awareness of the Filipino and Filipino-American culture within the community. Our organization strives to provide opportunities for individuals and groups to form bonds and relationships by planning and hosting meetings and social gatherings for people to participate in.
'Road to DTJ' is Atlanta FSA's crowdfunding campaign aimed to help cover the expenses needed to prepare, travel, and compete at Def Talent Jam! The diagram is a general visual representation of the breakdown of costs. While the majority of the group consists of college students, money is not easy to come by!
Partaking in this dance competition has provided irreplaceable experiences not only for our competing dancers, but for our entire FSA pamilya! It has allowed us to cultivate genuine friendships within and outside of our organization, called attention to social issues present within our community, provided platforms for our members to prosper in positions of leadership, and greatly strengthened our pride as a whole.
Our goal is to reach $3000 to help cover the expenditures. Supporters can donate via the Venmo or PayPal buttons below and ANY AMOUNT HELPS! Every single donation is appreciated and will provide our dancers with funds towards their housing, transportation costs, and costumes. By emphasizing the importance of commitment, perseverance, and family, and through the help of your contributions, we hope to take home first place this upcoming competition season!
